EiiF is an independent, non-profit institution founded in 2009 and registered in Switzerland. It was founded by companies operating in the industrial insulation sector with the aim of promoting insulation as a top-of-mind method of enhancing sustainability and profitability.
Studies have demonstrate that proper industrial insulation, noise reduction and fire control systems are the best solutions to improve energy efficiency, increase environmental sustainability and reduce waste. Data show that in the European industrial plants about 10% of the equipment is not properly insulated – as they are covered with damaged insulation or undersized insulation. Poor insulation has as a result an unnecessary heat loss, personnel injuries’s risk and considerable CO2 input as well as waste of money. Furthermore the price of energy on the European and international market is constantly increasing and expected to grow even further in the coming years. Additional costs for CO2 emission allowances (20-20-20) will accelerate this trend and further increase the saving potential.
It is estimated that a new and efficient insulation – made with a “cost-effective level” – can avoid 66% of heat losses with considerable saving of energy costs.

The study, commissioned from EiiF, was conducted in 2012 by Ecofys, leading consultancy agency in renewable energy and energy efficiency that has worked for years for public and corporate organisations and companies.
TIPCHECKs are standardised high quality thermal energy audits, performed only by qualified TIPCHECK engineers. A TIPCHECK can be executed even while the system is running, and detects and quantifies the amount of energy and money an industrial facility is losing with its current insulation system (including uninsulated parts) and calculates the savings potential through a personalized study.
